Congratulations to Global Skills Katoomba Disability Employment Services (DES) former job seeker Michael on sustaining employment for more than two years.

Michael (63) joined our DES service after sustaining an injury in a workplace accident. The injury prevented him from taking on the labour-intensive roles he was employed in before the accident, and he was finding it challenging to locate suitable opportunities.

With the support of our DES team and a very supportive local employer, Michael commenced work with a landscaping company in September 2021 taking on less labour-intensive tasks such as driving and collecting stock.

We recently caught up with Michael to see how he was going, he said “I enjoy keeping active at work and thanks to the support I received from Global Skills and my employer I have increased my hours from an initial 15 hours a week and now work a full 40-hour week. I am thankful for the support I received from Global Skills including the new boots I needed to commence employment.”
