Congratulations to Picton participant Wendy on reaching 12 months in employment as a cleaner at a local school.
Wendy brought her previous hospitality experience into her new role, drawing on her understanding of customer service as she settled into work as a cleaner. An induction and training shifts alongside other cleaners helped her learn the different tasks involved in keeping the school clean, from kitchens and eating areas to classrooms, hallways, stairs and bathrooms.
Wendy enjoys her work and particularly appreciates the people she works with. “My co-workers are all very supportive. We work as a team,” she said.
She also takes pride in the effort she puts into her job each day. “I love my job. I show up and I work hard,” Wendy said.
Wendy worked with Charlene and the Picton team as she prepared for employment and settled into her new role. They helped her update and print her résumé, complete the required police and Working with Children checks, and with her car registration so she could get to work.
Reflecting on her experience, Wendy said, “Charlene has been brilliant. The whole team at Picton was really good. I could always ask them questions about things I’m not sure about and even after I started work they regularly checked in to see if I needed anything.”
Congratulations again, Wendy, and thank you for sharing your story.
