Congratulations to Global Skills Fairfield participant Wasan on reaching her 6-month employment milestone.
After many years as the primary carer for her four children, Wasan was ready to return to the workforce. With her youngest child now 12, she decided it was the right time to take that next step. Knowing she wanted to work in a kitchen, she looked for a role that reflected her love of cooking and keeping things clean and organised.
Working with her Employment Consultant, Bushra, Wasan continued building her English skills, created her resume and prepared for interviews. She was then referred to a Kitchenhand position with Nazar Kebab Pide Pty Ltd and, following a successful interview, started work in December 2025.
Six months on, Wasan has settled into her role and is enjoying her work.
“I love it. It’s perfect for me,” Wasan said. “My employer is great. They treat me with respect and care, and everyone at work is friendly and helpful. I feel more confident and am happy going to work. I enjoy having a new routine, getting out into the community and being part of a supportive team.”
Business owner Zeynep commented: “Wasan has been an excellent kitchen hand who consistently demonstrates a strong work ethic and a positive attitude. She is reliable, punctual, and always willing to help wherever needed. She completes her tasks efficiently while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and food safety. Overall, Wasan has performed her role to a high standard.”
Throughout her journey back into work, Wasan received ongoing support from Global Skills Fairfield, including regular check-ins and help with transport costs as she settled into her new routine.
Reflecting on the support she received, Wasan said, “Bushra has helped me with everything, including finding me a job with a great employer. Everyone at Global Skills is supportive and respectful.”
Congratulations again, Wasan, and thank you for sharing your story.
