Congratulations to Jenny on reaching her 6-month employment milestone!

Congratulations to Global Skills Wyong participant Jenny on reaching her 6-month employment milestone!

Jenny* joined the Global Skills Pre Release Program in October 2024 through the Corrective Services NSW Work Readiness Program. Through this initiative, she was connected with her Offender Employment Officer, Kate, and Justice Services Manager, Laura.

Jenny remembers, “I had a job interview shortly after joining Global Skills and they helped me get my forklift licence, which I needed for the job. When I was offered the position, Global Skills provided everything I needed, including work pants, a shirt and PPE.”

Following her release, Laura continued her ongoing support in transferring to a new work site, closer to where she lived.

“Laura also sent me a food voucher, a petrol voucher, and Global Skills paid for my car rego so I could drive to work,” she recalls. “It was so reassuring to have someone to lean on if I needed anything. It’s been such a positive experience. Knowing I had that support, someone who had my back, really boosted my confidence.”

Jenny also spoke about how having a job made a big difference during her transition back into the community.

“Having a job while I was still involved with the justice system made a huge difference. The work release program gave me the opportunity to work in the community and earn an income. When I was released, having a job made it much easier to settle back into the community.”
