Congratulations to Global Skills Wyong participant Rose, who has celebrated 6 months in employment.

Rose* joined Global Skills in October 2024 through the Corrective Services NSW Work Readiness Program. With a long term goal to work back in an office environment, Rose set out to rebuild her work capacity and current work experience.

“I was open to any employment opportunity that would help me get back into the workforce. I had more than a 2-year gap on my résumé, which I was worried about, but the support I received made what could have been a difficult transition much more manageable,” Rose said.

“Martin Petersons, Global Skills Executive Manager Industry and Justice Services and the Work Readiness Team were so helpful. I gained my forklift licence and traffic control ticket and built experience in logistics while at the transitional centre in Sydney. Once back on the Central Coast, I obtained my White Card and secured warehousing roles with support from Global Skills Wyong. They also helped me update and refine my résumé and supported me with work-related travel and clothing.”

While continuing to build her experience, Rose kept her long-term goal of returning to office work in mind. She put her résumé on SEEK and was contacted by a local business. Following the application process, she was offered a reception role, where she has settled in well and is enjoying the work. Reaching 6 months in the position has been an important milestone for Rose.

Proud of how far she had come, Rose was keen to share the news with her Community Corrections Officer.

“I was so happy to send my Community Corrections Officer an email to let them know how well I was going,” she said.
