Congratulations Raad!

Congratulations to Global Skills Fairfield participant Raad on reaching his 6-month employment milestone.

After arriving in Australia, Raad worked as a painter for five years before unexpectedly being retrenched. Determined to get back into work, he joined Global Skills in September 2025 looking for support with job searching while continuing to build his English language skills.

Raad was connected with one of our Employment Consultants, Bushra, who supported him to improve his conversational English during appointments and other activities. Together, they worked on creating a resume and building his job search skills.

When Raad heard about a local handyperson opportunity, he asked Bushra to contact the employer on his behalf. Impressed by Raad’s skills and experience, the employer offered him the role, and Global Skills kept in regular contact and provided support with work-related travel expenses and clothing.

Six months on, Raad has settled into his role well and continues to build new skills at work.

“My employer recognised my skills as a painter and has given me the opportunity to take on new tasks and keep learning on the job. I have learnt a lot, including how to install doors and do other handyman work. I enjoy my work and I’m grateful to my employer for the support and encouragement as I continue to learn,” Raad said.

Congratulations again, Raad and thank you for sharing your story.
