Congratulations Nazila!

Congratulations to Fairfield participant Nazila on completing her 6-month traineeship with The Bread & Butter Project. She has since secured ongoing work at their bakery within Harris Farm Bondi Junction.

Nazila, 28, arrived in Australia as a refugee and joined Global Skills in March 2025, after completing the Navitas Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP) to improve her English. With the support of her Employment Consultant Neven, she was offered the role at The Bread & Butter Project just 11 days later.

As part of her journey, Nazila also completed a course of driving lessons through L Trent, one of Global Skills’ many driving school partners. She now holds her learner’s permit and expects to get her Ps soon, which will allow her to drive herself to work.

Reflecting on her experience, Nazila said, “I’ve been working at The Bread & Butter Project for over 6 months. Everyone is so lovely, and they’ve given me a lot of work experience and confidence. After I finished my traineeship, they offered me ongoing work at their bakery in Bondi. I feel so happy and proud of myself. I really love this company and want to keep working here for a long time.”

Mary Angelakos, People & Partnerships Manager, at The Bread & Butter Project added, “Nazila is doing an amazing job here, and we’re so proud of her!”

Nazila also thanked Neven for her support, “Neven is so kind and has helped me so much. She gave me clothes and shoes for work and even put money on my Opal card. I’m really grateful to her. I also completed driving lessons, and in 2 weeks I’ll get my P’s. I’m happy to be able to drive myself to work.”

Congratulations again Nazila. We thank you for sharing your story and wish you all the best in your ongoing role.
