Congratulations to Blacktown Inclusive Employment Australia participant Marcel on reaching his 6-month employment milestone.
After working in warehousing, Marcel has taken on a new role in aviation as a ramp agent, handling cargo and preparing it for departure on flights.
“It’s very interesting working in aviation. It’s my first time,” Marcel said. “I used to work in warehousing. It’s very different. I love it.”
Marcel has found the role a good fit for his lifestyle. “It’s going really well. I live not far from work, the environment is nice and I’ve made some friends,” he said. “It’s night shift, which is good for me as I am a night person.”
His employer also provided a month of theory and practical training to get him started. “There are a lot of great benefits working here. They look after you well,” Marcel said.
During his job search, Marcel worked with Employment Consultant Grace, who supported him with his job search skills, while Global Skills also provided practical assistance with work boots and travel to work.
“Global Skills was very supportive and had great communication. Grace and Jessica, Global Skills Work Support Officer, were always willing to help and very reassuring. Jessica frequently checked in to see if I needed anything after I started work, including support with travel,” Marcel said.
Congratulations again, Marcel, and thank you for sharing your story.
