Congratulations Greg!

Greg returned to work four years after retiring and is now enjoying a fulfilling role in warehousing and logistics.

He explained, “I worked 34 years in the public service before retiring. After travelling, I decided I wanted to go back to work. I wanted to get out of the house and do something.”

When he made that decision, Greg was connected with Global Skills and met his Employment Consultant, Ahtsham. “I knew I didn’t want to work in an office again, so I worked with Ahtsham to explore other options. Global Skills was running an RF Scanning course, and I thought it would be a good fit since I had some experience with logistics and warehousing from my public service role.”

Greg completed the RF Scanning course, which he says helped him secure his job. “Ahtsham helped me with my resume, we added the course and I put my resume on Seek. After a successful interview with a local labour hire company, I started work with a large tool business.”

Greg is working as a Stock Control Cycle Counter, counting stock in the warehouse. “I work casually but I work full-time hours, and there is plenty of work including overtime if you want it. I initially thought I didn’t want full-time work, but it has worked out really well and I’m happy. The people are fantastic; management is really supportive. Everyone is very friendly.”

Reflecting on his experience with Global Skills, Greg said, “Ahtsham looked after me really well even after I started work. He supported me with work boots and with travel to work. I really enjoyed our face-to-face meetings. This was my first experience with an employment service provider and it has been excellent.”
