Congratulations to Global Skills Wetherill Park participant Emma on reaching her 6-month employment milestone.
When Emma began her job search, she was balancing the care of her children while looking for work that could genuinely fit her family.
Through conversations with her Employment Consultant, Ahtsham, Emma took the time to reflect on her strengths, interests and past experiences. It soon became clear that caring roles were a natural fit.
“When working with Ahtsham, I realised that a job in Aged Care or Disability Support was perfect for me,” Emma shared. “I’ve had experience caring for family members in advanced age and with disability, and I really enjoy being in a caring role. My skills, interests and experience made me well suited to support work, and I knew I could fit this around my family responsibilities.”
Emma was referred to a role with a local in-home support organisation, where she successfully secured employment. She was supported through the onboarding process, including required checks, first aid certification and assistance with travel to work.
We recently caught up with Emma, and she shared how much she is enjoying her role.
“I love my work. It’s something I genuinely enjoy. My favourite part is knowing that I’m making a difference, and I really value that my clients appreciate me. They are all beautiful people who have welcomed me so warmly.”
Emma also values the flexibility her role provides. “My employer is great. I work part time across five days a week, and I’m given the flexibility to fulfil my family responsibilities. Being able to make a difference while supporting my family has brought me so much joy. It’s also helped us financially.”
Reflecting on her journey, Emma shared her appreciation for the guidance she received along the way. “Ahtsham was very understanding and supported me throughout the whole process,” she said.
Congratulations, Emma, from the entire team at Global Skills, and thank you for sharing your story.
