Campaign Exceeds Target

A Global Skills’ campaign to place 500 jobseekers in work in 50 days exceeded its target with 945 people placed into employment before Christmas.

Director of Global Skills Employment Services, Rebecca Nicholls, said 945 people had found work and thanked local employers for their continued support towards a post COVID recovery in Greater Western Sydney.

“Giving people a chance to re-engage with employment is critical on so many levels – for an individual’s sense of worth, financial independence and for their mental well-being,” she said.

“As the economy picks up there have been increasing opportunities for people to find work before Christmas which makes all the difference to families and communities.

“Employers across the region enthusiastically embraced the campaign and we could not have achieved this amazing result without them.

“Many businesses don’t realise that they are eligible for government funding for up to $10,000 in six months as an incentive to hire someone who is not only a perfect fit for their business but comes with a wage subsidy.”

Data from the campaign showed that the top 15 industries currently hiring were:

1. Pick & Pack

2. Warehousing
