Global Skills Supports Youth-Led Initiative

Global Skills is proud to support the Central Coast youth-led Clothes Swap initiative, in collaboration with Central Coast Council. The Council, including Youth Development Officer Renee Simpson, has provided guidance and support to help drive the project, which promotes sustainability, reduces textile waste, and creates meaningful opportunities for young people across the Central Coast.

Coast Swap gives young people the chance to volunteer, gain work experience, access peer mentoring, and build social connections. As part of this partnership, Global Skills has donated equipment for use at Coast Swap events during the 2025–2027 program period, including mirrors, hat racks, clothes hangers, and privacy/change shelters.

The most recent event was well attended, with locals coming together to swap pre-loved clothing in a welcoming and inclusive environment.

Global Skills TtW Manager, Chloe, volunteered at a recent Clothes Swap and said: “The day was incredible. I felt honoured to volunteer. Renee and the young people did a fantastic job, and the community was loving it.”

Global Skills will refer Transition to Work (TtW) participants to volunteer at future events and thanks Central Coast Council for supporting this positive youth-led initiative.
