Congratulations Ofa!

Congratulations to Bankstown participant Ofa on reaching her 6-month employment milestone. After taking time out to care for her mum, Ofa was ready to return to work and rebuild her career.

Before her break, Ofa worked in transport. When she decided to return to work in August 2024, she joined Global Skills and met her Employment Consultant Chevaughn. From the beginning, Ofa said Chevaughn really listened, encouraged her to highlight her experience and supported her every step of the way, along with the rest of the Bankstown team.

Ofa soon found success, securing a role as a Transport Supervisor with a delivery company.

When we spoke with her recently, she told us how much she’s enjoying her role: “I’m so glad that I got this job. I applied on Thursday, they called me on Friday and I started in the first week of June. My role is Transport Supervisor. I work on the phones, allocate deliveries and serve drivers. I’ve worked in an office before, but not for a long time. I like this job because I have the knowledge and experience to do it. I used to run transport before, so I know the job inside out. I’m good at allocating and managing.”

Ofa also wanted to share her gratitude for the support she received. She said, “I was at a crisis point and the team reached out and offered support. It wasn’t just about finding work, it was everything. They called to check in, encouraged me and even helped with petrol and clothing when I started. There aren’t enough words to describe how fantastic they were. They gave me every opportunity and I can’t thank them enough.”

Congratulations again, Ofa, and thank you for generously sharing your story.
