On Wednesday 26 November, Global Skills Community Engagement Coordinator, Jennifer, joined the community for the Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Walk the Talk event. This annual event marks the start of the 16 Days of Activism against gender-based violence campaign.
After a 20-minute walk at 8am, everyone gathered at PCYC Waitara for a short ceremony. Highlights included a local elder playing the didgeridoo and a high school student speaking about domestic and family violence. The morning continued with a BBQ breakfast and a range of information stalls, including the Global Skills stall, which we shared with Zeina from Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Community College.
Walk the Talk has been running for 15 years and continues to reinforce one clear message: domestic and family violence has no place in Hornsby Shire.
Global Skills extends our thanks to Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Women’s Shelter, PCYC Hornsby/Ku-ring-gai and the Rotary Club of Wahroonga for bringing the event together.
