Congratulations Enimoa!

Congratulations to Global Skills Lake Haven participant Enimoa. He has reached his 6-month employment milestone after starting a new career at the age of 63.

With 23 years as a sailor, including a few years as a captain, Enimoa moved his family to Australia from Tonga in 2000. While he worked on ships for some time, he wanted a better work-life balance and decided to explore land-based work. He found a position as a machine operator and worked with the company for 15 years. However, when the company relocated, Enimoa was unable to make the move. Shortly after, Covid hit, making it difficult for him to secure work.

In 2023, the family moved to the Central Coast, and Enimoa joined Global Skills in October. He was introduced to his Employment Consultant, Vanessa, and together, they worked on getting him back into the workforce.

Enimoa remembers, “I realised I needed support to find a job. I didn’t drive in Sydney, but I knew getting my licence was key to finding work here. I also wanted to see what else I could do to improve my chances.”

With the support of Global Skills, Enimoa worked hard to enhance his existing knowledge and skills. “He earned his Provisional Driver’s Licence, completed a Certificate III in Supply Chain Operations, renewed his Forklift Licence, obtained a White Card, and completed a Work for the Dole activity on a voluntary basis.”

When Vanessa saw a job opening through Global Skills Marketer Ven, she knew Enimoa would be a great fit. After a successful interview, Enimoa secured the job with Momentum Consulting Group, and he’s now been in that role for 6 months.

Enimoa says, “The qualifications, work experience and licence really helped me get the job. It’s different to what I did before, but I’m happy with what I’m doing now.”

He also had kind words for Vanessa: “Vanessa has been a great support. She helped me with everything I needed and has kept in touch. She’s been really good to me.”

Congratulations again Enimoa and thank you for generously sharing your story.
