Mazin joins the Fairfield Youth Advisory Committee

Congratulations to Fairfield participant Mazin for securing a place on the Fairfield Youth Advisory Committee (YAC).

The YAC, a formal advisory committee of Fairfield City Council, gives young people in Fairfield City a voice and the chance to advocate for the needs of local youth. Members meet once a month to talk about issues that matter to young people, plan events, and get involved in local projects, workshops, and volunteering.

Mazin recently attended his first meeting and shared, “When Jeena told me about YAC, I thought why not give it a try. I’m hoping to gain work experience and learn lots of new things. This will be good for my resume. Jeena helped me apply and supported me with my application and the steps I needed to do to join.

“Yesterday was my first YAC and already I’ve had some good experience in interacting with the community and with customer service. The facilitators are very supportive and everyone is really nice. I’ve already made some friends there. It was very fun. Our group is already making decisions about what we are going to do next time.”

This is a great start to your YAC experience, Mazin. We are looking forward to hearing more.
