Homelessness Week (4–10 August) raises awareness of the challenges faced by people experiencing homelessness and the need for lasting solutions. It’s an opportunity for all of us to think about how we can contribute to positive change.
Global Skills is proud to support LocalKind Northern Beaches in their work to support those experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
Yesterday, our Executive Manager, Simon, and Community Engagement Consultant, Robert, delivered 50 backpacks to LocalKind, each filled with essential items to aid their continued support of our local community. Each bag contained a packable raincoat, hygiene essentials, food and beverages.
On taking delivery of the bags, LocalKind Head of Growth, Daniel, commented, “We are very grateful to have partners like Global Skills who are both Gold Sponsor financial supporters, material aid donors, as well as fantastic community service partners. We have a great synergy where Global Skills focuses on employment for people regardless of background, and LocalKind provides wrap-around support for complex needs that can be employment barriers. With each of us spending time working in each other’s centres, we can get great outcomes and prove that 1 + 1 is more than 2!”
Homelessness is often accompanied by high levels of unemployment or underemployment. Global Skills works closely with job seekers to understand their unique challenges and recognises the invaluable role of complementary services like LocalKind in helping them move forward.
