Global Skills SkillUP Series Part 5: Work for the Dole

Are you a job seeker looking to enhance your skills and boost your employability? The Workforce Australia Work for the Dole program might be the perfect opportunity for you.

In part 5 of Global Skills SkillUP series we will explore how participation in a Work for the Dole activity can empower you on your journey to employment.

Work for the Dole is a government work experience program for Workforce Australia job seekers aged 18 years and over. Global Skills can help you to find and complete a Work for the Dole activity which will allow you to:

  • Demonstrate your capabilities and work ethic to potential employers and community members. You can make a positive impression on those who may offer job opportunities or references in the future.
  • Connect with other community members and make a positive impact on your community.
  • Build practical skills that employers love, like teamwork and problem-solving. These skills will help you stand out in job interviews.
  • Build confidence. Making a positive impact in your community can help boost your confidence.
  • Include recent relevant work experience on your resume. This can make a significant difference in your job applications.
  • Possibly gain a licence or work towards a qualification. Some Work for the Dole placements offer the opportunity to gain licences or certifications relevant to specific industries. You may even be able to work towards a qualification, while gaining hands-on experience, helping you secure a job in your desired field.

Global Skills arranges Work for the Dole activities in not-for-profit organisations and government agencies in the communities we serve. Ask your Global Skills Employment Consultant for more information.
