A BIG congratulations to Global Skills job seeker Lauren for not only completing a Certificate III in Retail but excelling during work experience, to be offered a job.

Lauren (26) joined Global Skills Lake Haven in September 2022. She remembers, “I’d been through some tough times before joining Global Skills. I didn’t feel like I was ready to go back to work, but the support I received from the staff at Lake Haven went above and beyond. Global Skills helped in some really big ways including supplying me a phone and supporting me to complete my course which led me to the job I have now.”

Last year, Lauren participated in a Retail pre-employment program, delivered at Global Skills Lake Haven with thanks to the Australian Retailers Association (ARA) Retail Institute. This included completion of her Certificate III in Retail and two weeks work experience. Lauren began work experience in early December at Officeworks Tuggerah and says, “Overall the course was great, and the work experience went swimmingly. I absolutely loved it. On day 8 of my work experience, I was offered my job.

“I feel so lucky to have been given such a great opportunity. I am not a big social person, but being back in work has really brought me out of my shell. I feel much more confident.”
