Supporting our Central Coast Community this Homelessness Week

This week, 1-7 August, is Homelessness Week. A week which aims to give a voice to people experiencing homelessness, the issues they face, and the need for sustainable solutions.

People experiencing homelessness are unemployed or underemployed at disproportionately high rates. Global Skills partners with job seekers to address their individual barriers to work, connect them with complimentary services where needed and support those who are homeless move towards employment.

We are also a proud partner of The Good Box – a non-for-profit social enterprise that creates beautifully packaged gift boxes for people experiencing homelessness in Australia.

The Good Box states, “The boxes are a vehicle to an important conversation which can help some of the most isolated people in our society to be more likely to seek and accept assistance.”

This week Global Skills donated a number of Winter Good Boxes to Coast Shelter – a local charity providing specialist homelessness services on the Central Coast. The boxes are filled with essential items to help locals experiencing homelessness get through some tough Winter nights. Global Skills’ Caddy is also headed to Coast Shelter with an extra load full of bathroom products.

Rebecca Nicholls, Global Skills Director commented, “Given the additional demand on charitable organisations in the local areas we service, our staff were keen to identify additional ways to support our local communities and partners.”
